Why should you ask how many parking spaces actually exist per flat in the building?

Property listings often say “ample parking” or “parking available,” which can mean many things in reality. If there are fewer parking spaces than flats, or if spaces are shared, you might end up circling for a spot every night or parking far from your entrance.

By asking clearly, “How many marked spaces are there, and how are they allocated?” you find out if each flat has a guaranteed spot, whether it’s first-come-first-served, or if you need to rent a place separately. Also ask what happens with guest parking.

If your household has more than one vehicle, this becomes even more important. Some societies strictly limit extra cars or charge extra monthly fees.

Parking may not feel as exciting as a nice kitchen, but daily annoyance around where to keep your car can ruin the joy of a good apartment very quickly.
