Drains have a normal “sound” when water flows – a steady whoosh. If you start hearing strange gurgling noises, bubbling, or slow glugging, especially after the water has already gone down, it can mean air and water are fighting past a partial blockage.
This might happen in sinks, showers, or the kitchen drain. It doesn’t always mean a full clog yet, but it’s often an early sign that grease, hair, soap scum or food is building up somewhere in the pipes.
Paying attention at this stage lets you act early: using appropriate cleaners, clearing trap sections, or getting help before water starts backing up into the basin or floor.
Ignoring those sounds is like ignoring a car making a new noise – it usually doesn’t fix itself.
