How can starting with one test room teach you what to change in the rest of the project?

Renovation plans often look perfect on paper, but reality always feels different. Starting with one room as a “pilot” – maybe a bathroom, guest room or small study – lets you see how your choices behave in real life.

You’ll discover how the contractor actually works, how long things really take, and whether the materials you chose look and perform the way you imagined. You might find certain tiles are harder to clean than expected, or a paint colour reads differently on a bigger surface.

Based on that experience, you can tweak your plan for the rest of the home: adjust schedules, change materials, add more detailed instructions, or even switch to a different team if needed.

A pilot room is like a dress rehearsal. Better to discover what you’d like to improve on a small stage than halfway through renovating the entire house.
